How to Maintain Fully Automatic Mortar Spraying Machine

●Electrical equipment: Including the inspection of motors, power supply, transmission lines, and electric control boxes, and each switch should be in the specified state.

●Lubricating oil: The hand oil pump is forced to refuel several times.

●Check the hopper for debris and slag.

●Inspection of shotcrete hoses, nozzles, and air ducts.

●Equipment air transportation inspection

a Jog the motor to check the rotation direction (the main motor is clockwise and the air compressor is counter-clockwise);

b Air compressor, air pressure, air volume, air gun adjustment;

c Check the situation of the instrument, especially whether the voltage meets the design requirements (380v), check the transmission line, wire diameter distance and joint connection, etc.

●The setting of air pressure and airflow is caused by the loosening of the air pressure switch parts during transportation, and the pressure spring should be readjusted.

FAQ

Q: Can you spray mortar mix?

A: Spraying is recognized as the best method of application allowing sharper sands and lower water content in the mortar mix. The speed of work is considerably increased and an average of 1000 square feet per day per man is quite normal.

Q: What is a mortar machine?

A: Mortar mixer is used for mixing many construction materials. It usually allows a higher quality plaster to be applied to construction structures. Thus, it is used to distribute the plastering process to be performed before the painting process in a smoother and more balanced way.

Q: Can you add too much water to mortar mix?

A: Mixing an incorrect ratio of sand, stone, cement and water will yield an inferior product. One of the most common errors of the concrete mixing process is the addition of too much water. This simple mistake can lead to a whole host of problems during the curing process and later down the line.

Q: Is mortar stronger than thinset?

A: While thinset is technically a modified mortar, it's thinner and designed specifically for tiles, unlike mortar which is thick and holds stacked bricks in place. Likewise, thinset contains cement, but its formula lacks the strength to build walls or even serve as a stand-alone flooring product.

Q: Should I spray mortar with water?

A: How Long Does Mortar Take To Dry And Show Its True Color
Intermittently Spray the Mortar – Use a hose or spray bottle, depending on the size of your project to spray the mortar down every hour or so. It will help with step 1. Keep doing it for a few days after everything's finished. Make sure the water pressure isn't strong enough to move the mortar.

Q: What are the 3 main types of mortar?

A: Mortar comes in a few standard types – N, S, M, and O. Each mortar type has its own unique characteristics and common application types. With Amerimix pre-blended mortar types you have the option to request an onsite demo or request a color card to see which mortar type best fits your project.

Q: Why is my mortar turning to sand?

A: Usually the most likely cause of what you described is 1) water saturation due to improper drainage or an overflowing gutter/downspout or 2) the mortar was mixed or handled improperly in the first place, that could have been many things like too much sand, shook up too much( rehydrated 2 many times) froze b4 it set etc ...

Q: What is the difference between Type N and Type S mortar?

A: Type N mortar mix is a medium compressive-strength material of at least 750 pounds per square inch (psi) and a 28-day strength of 1,500 to 2400 psi. Type S mortar mix, on the other hand, has a compressive strength of at least 1,800 psi, but it's typically much stronger at 2,300 to 3,000 psi.

Q: Why is my mortar not sticking to my brick?

A: Adhesion - Strength of bond is affected by the suction rate of the brick, the mortar constituents, water content and the weather. Where the suction rate of a brick exceeds the optimum value of 1.5kg/m2/min, it is recommended that the bricks are wetted prior to laying, particularly in hot & dry weather conditions.

Q: Why is my new mortar crumbling?

A: The mortar between bricks begins crumbling when the structural integrity of the material is compromised. This can be due to a variety of factors, though crumbling is typically associated with the absorption of moisture and the natural expansion/contraction of the materials in warm and cold temperatures.

Q: How long does it take for mortar to reach full strength?

A: 28 days
Brick mortar is made from Portland cement and is used for more structural and load bearing projects. It will reach 60% of its strength within the first 24 hours and will take up to 28 days to reach its full cure strength. There are 5 types of brick mortar, and all cure differently than each other.

Q: What is the shelf life of mortar mix?

A: 12 months
SHELF LIFE: MORTAR MIX has a shelf life of 12 months when stored properly in a dry location, protected from moisture, out of direct sunlight, and in an undamaged package. If the mix is too dry or has too little water, it may not set properly. Cold weather can slow construction by affecting the set time and strength development of mortar and grout.

Q: How do you increase mortar adhesion?

A: Adding 2–5% SF or PPF improves the bond strength by 70–170% for the various exposure conditions. The results suggest adding lime, SF or PPF to cement-sand mortars as 2% of cement weight to enhance the brick-mortar bond strength.

Q: Why is my mortar turning to dust?

A: If you see any crumbling or powdery mortar it's a good indication that your brickwork is fretting. In its advanced stages, the mortar will be almost completely missing. At that point, the rows of bricks may begin to collapse onto the bricks below. Be prepared for an expensive repair job if it gets to that stage.

Q: What happens if too much sand in mortar?

A: Too much sand will mean that the mix will be weak, and the elements could damage the finished surface. To improve the working properties and durability of the concrete and mortar, you can add extra materials. These materials could be lime, plasticiser or other building chemicals.

Q: How does a mortar sprayer work?

A: The process typically employs a high-pressure system to propel the mortar mixture through a nozzle, allowing for efficient and uniform coating on walls, ceilings, or other structures.A moist cure must begin as soon as the initial set is complete and the joint has been finished. During the day when workers are present on site, a misting of water on the surface of the joint is sufficient.

Q: When would you use a spray machine?

A: A paint sprayer is convenient for applying paint in less time than with a brush or roller. Painting with a sprayer makes the work easier for big or small jobs. You can stain a bench with a sprayer or use one for spray painting a house.

Q: How wet should mortar be for pointing?

A: Water: The mix should not be made too wet, enough water should be added to allow the mortar to stick to an upturned wooden hawk. It should not be sloppy. Brick Pointers (left) or 'pointing irons' are not widely available at DIY stores but some builder's merchants and a number of on-line sites sell them.

Q: How long will mortar last once mixed?

A: How Long Is Mortar Workable? Once mixed, the mortar in the bucket should be workable for approximately 90-120 minutes. This is called the ``pot life'' of the mortar. Avoid mixing more mortar than you can apply in two hours as the remainder will become too dry to use.

Q: How long does it take for mortar to fully cure?

A: Product achieves a compressive strength in excess of 750 psi (5.17 MPa) in 28 day. Before application: Surfaces to receive Mortar Mix should be dry and clean, and free of dirt, loose debris, grease, oil, etc.
