how is concrete batching done?

Concrete is a widely used, long-lasting, environmentally friendly, and low-cost material, and is also globally recognized as a building material. In order to produce high-quality concrete, the composition of concrete should be accurately and perfectly calculated. Once a hybrid design is set, the initial task should be to mix the raw materials.

Concrete batching refers to the method of estimating and mixing the necessary concrete components (weight or volume) based on the mix design, and implanting them into the mixture to form a uniform mass of concrete.

By perfectly calculating all materials used in concrete structures, consistency of proportions can be maintained in all subsequent batches.

Why is concrete batching important?

Typically, concrete components use the following three types of components:

01. Random volume components: Components that lack control over the size and shape of the containers used may lead to significant errors and deviations, such as using "ghamellas", which calculates the number of ghamellas. This method is completely unscientific and imprecise, and should not be recommended even for a small project.

02. Batch batching of concrete: Batch batching of concrete is achieved through the use of measuring boxes, locally known as "farms or measuring boxes". Concrete components such as aggregates (Kapachi+sand) and cement are calculated using farms or measuring boxes, and appropriate preventive measures should be taken to ensure that the farms or measuring boxes are overfilled. To calculate the water volume, a water meter should be used when batching or using a fixed capacity water tank.

03. Concrete weighing and batching: The weighing and batching of concrete is achieved through the use of weighing and batching or the weighing system on the batching machine. In large-scale projects, automatic batching plants have been established to optimize quality and uniformity.

Water is a very important material, therefore, the maximum amount of water should be used when mixing. If there is little water, the function of concrete will be hindered, and excess water will minimize the strength of concrete. Water should be calculated entirely in liters.

The selection of ingredient methods is based on work scale, productivity, and ingredient performance standards.

Batch processing is usually done by volume. The accuracy of ingredients is crucial. It is best to weigh the ingredients instead of measuring the volume of the ingredients. In situations where weighing and batching are not possible, batch batching is the most effective. It is always recommended to incur additional costs, as in the long run, this can save significant costs.

Note: The cement dosage should also maintain an accuracy of ± 2%, and the dosage of aggregates, admixtures, and water should maintain an accuracy of ± 3%.
